Paul Dirkse, a native of The Netherlands, was born and educated in The Hague. Paul was a dreamer during his school years, dreaming of travel and adventure in places he had only read about in books and seen on TV. No one was surprised when, at 15 years old, Paul bought himself a backpack and hitchhiked his way to the south of France. He later made his way to Israel where he lived and worked on several Kibbutz. After making friends with a number of Americans and Canadians he decided to try his luck "State Side." His adventure continued in America and on to Canada, where Paul tried his hand at various jobs. For instance as a mover in New York and he was picking apples and planting trees in Brittish Colombia and did work as a roofer in San Francisco. Paul's next move was to Asia where his lifelong love of art started. While residing in Asia, he managed his own business exporting original Asian artwork and sculpture into Europe. Paul is a self-taught artist. He works mainly with acrylics and is constantly experimenting with new styles and methods. Paul believes that his best work comes without planning, but from the impulse of the moment. In his own words: "True beauty cannot happen without a touch of magic, and perhaps a little help from the heavens…" Paul has been commissioned by many personal clients to paint individual pieces of art. If you are self-employed and/or have a home-based office, art is generally a tax-detuctable item. If you are interested in viewing Paul's artwork, please contact him to arrange a personal viewing in your own home. Paul can bring you a selection of paintings with no obligation. If you prefer to come by and explore the gallery that is also possible in his studio. He can also help you select a professional frame for your paintings. In the past I had several expositions and showings ot my art, for instance at the Kessler Shell building, Shell also purchased one of my paintings, at the American Embassy in The Hague the Ambassy purchased as well a couple of paintings by his Counselor Mr. David King. I showed my art at the American and Brittish School. I sold many paintings to Dutch people and businesses for instance to the Argos Takecaregroup by his CEO Dr. Edwin Wulff, to Drs. Jaqueline Detiger the Director of Filantropia, to Mr. Ronald Haanstra the CEO of the MTV in the Netherlands, and to Mr. Niels de Bruijn the Director of van Oord. But also numerous expats did purchase my work, for instance Dr. Stephen Hay the Principal Director of the EPO. Mr. Keith Dean the Director of Global Operations at Stolt Tankers, Mr. Sheffield the Maniging Director at Shell Aircraft, Mr. Cristiaan Kaufman the Vice President of Finance Services at Unilever, to Mr. Marcel Polk the CEO at MARSH. Mr. Michael Mapes the Division President at GREIF, who bought five of my paintings, first he wanted to buy only four but because I mentioned that he had five children I could convince him to buy one more. I also sold to the Founder and Director of Gouda Insurance Mr. Ole Aerthøj, who bought two of my works and he wanted to take a photo of me with each of the paintings, because he had hope that his purchase would / could be a smart investment, so ha ha, he could prove it was a real Paul Dirkse work of art. Who is to know in the world what will happen and especially the artworld anything is possible.
